Information You Submit
A name or location entered in a search box is passed to the outside provider that powers that tool. Madison County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's privacy terms apply to its processing.
An email or contact message may be kept long enough to answer and maintain the exchange. Such messages are not shared beyond the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Routine Technical Records
Like most web services, a page request can produce limited technical and usage data.
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring page or site, when supplied
- Date and time stamps
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. Browser controls can block or remove them, though some functions may then work differently.
Reasons Data Is Used
Collected information supports the ordinary operation of the service.
- Keep pages available and responsive
- Send search requests to the selected partner
- Learn which public-record topics are useful
- Detect and correct technical faults
- Display advertising that may reflect user interests
Links and Outside Services
Links lead to CVRJ, the Madison Sheriff, courts, VADOC, federal locators, release-record sources, and outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy notice controls. Advertising partners may use their own technology to observe activity across sites and tailor ads. That processing occurs on their systems.
Parties That May Receive Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may reach providers that perform a stated function.
- Search partners that process submitted queries
- Analytics providers that measure site use
- Advertising networks that serve or assess ads
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Security Has Practical Limits
Reasonable operational safeguards are used, but no web service, transmission method, or storage system is guaranteed to be breach-proof. Visitors should avoid sending sensitive identifiers or confidential records through ordinary messages.
Visitors Under Eighteen
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may request its removal through the Contact Us page.
Your Information Choices
Subject to applicable law and verification, a visitor may ask for a copy of personal data held by the site, request a correction, seek deletion, or object to certain processing. Requests can be sent through the contact page. Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, or operational reasons.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be revised as services or legal duties change. A revised version takes effect when posted here with its new effective date.
